The most important relationships—those closest to us—are often taken for granted. Family is not a given, but something that must be consciously and intentionally created, moment by moment.

As a systems coach for couples, families and partnerships, Shiho Tsuchiya supports courageous and essential conversations in intimate relationships.

Her commitment to this field is deeply rooted in her own personal journey through divorce, remarriage and building a stepfamily. One of Shiho’s defining qualities is her courage to face systems directly. She works with couples in co-leadership with her husband, a deliberate choice that stems from her awareness of the impact she brings as a woman and as a mother. This co-leadership ensures that a wider range of voices can be safely expressed in the coaching space.

She is committed to continually asking systems why they want coaching—to realign them with their intentions, highlight their blind spots and bring their edges into awareness. Especially in intimate systems, she is willing to explore taboo topics such as money, sex, children, separation and death. She does this not only professionally but also personally, as a worldworker who runs a coaching business alongside her husband and engages in deep dialogue within her own family system. Shiho also plays a leading role in fostering a growing community of systems coaches working with couples in Japan.

Her approach integrates Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC), Co-Active Coaching, leadership development, The Leadership Circle (TLC), Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Her couple’s coaching is informed by the work of John Gottman and Gary Chapman.

To bring the wisdom of Faith and Marita to Japan, Shiho contributed to the Japanese translation and publication of “Systems Inspired Leadership” and “Relationship Matters.” She hopes to make the insights of ORSC accessible to business leaders, coaches, and individuals of all kinds. Shiho is a certified Organization and Relationship Systems coach (ORSCC), an ICF Master Certified Coach (MCC), an ICF Advanced Certified Team Coach (ACTC), and a TLC Certified Coach (TLCCP). She leads ORSC courses as a faculty member, has years of experience as a mentor coach for the ORSC Certification program, and currently provides system-inspired supervision.
